FOCUS ON FOOD SECURITY
According to the International Food Research Policy Institute (2021) online assertions, the coming decades will see a changing climate, growing global population, rising food prices, and environmental stressors which will have significant yet uncertain impacts on food security.
The Institute further asserts that adaptation strategies and policy responses to global change, including options for handling water allocation, land use patterns, food trade, postharvest food processing, and food prices and safety are urgently needed. On this basis, coupled with the UN sustainable development Goals (1, 2, 6, and 12), CEFRESA is strategically positioned as a community driven organization dedicated to reducing/eliminating this challenges through strategic programming that mobilize young women, men and adolescents to build local resilience, promote sustainable food production and fight stressors which may impact food security in their communities. CEFRESA works with farmers, students and communities to increase their
participation in the food system and reduce the sector’s carbon footprint by promoting climate smart agriculture.
